Domestic Objects / Diaries

Fittingly, my Diary Series began with Egg Diary. I used a single egg because the text (midway down on January 15, 1921 it reads: “ Dorothy Clark came to buy one egg – the only ^ fresh one we had.” As I made the subsequent photographs in this series I decided to use the same dates of January 14-15 for all the photos. January in Maine, is an “interior” time. I felt too, that the same dates would further unify the series. As I found more diaries, little did I know there would be some “issues” with my date selection. In one dairy, a blank page of my chosen date and, in another the only missing page ! In each case I dealt with it. It probably made for a better overall series as I was forced to be inventive. These are cibachome prints from 4x5 inch transparencies.
