My Lynne Drexlers 2024
My Lynne Drexlers began as iphone photos of the Drexler paintings on exhibit at Moss Gallery in 2023. It was unusual for me to photograph artwork as I’m typically there to see and concentrate on the work itself. But, I trust the creative process completely and I always listen to my impulse.
Five months later I am at a one-month residency at Virginia Center for the Creative Arts. Residencies often suggest going for 3 weeks and I know from experience why. It’s exhausting and fulfilling so why push it? I spent an amazing and nonstop working 4th week —pushing it to make these photographs under conditions not exactly right for doing this kind of copy work. I was motivated by Lynne’s mark making process and met it with my own, mimicking her marks with my array of ordinary objects. Each photograph is 40” x 33 1/2'“
